UAX13 M unit UAX13 exchanges were used extensively in New Zealand to provide automatic telephone service in the rural areas. There were some changes to the standard design and so were re-designated UAX NZ13 because of this. The changes were minor and were mainly labeling because of New Zealand’s reverse number dials. The "M" unit (UAX NZ13M) (awaiting more details but enjoy the piccy and the sounds!) The unit at the bottom of the rack is the multi party code ringer and above it is the final selector relay sets and their associated uniselectors. At the top of the photo are the revertive relay sets that allow party line subscribers to call other subs on their same line. ![]() ![]() The two photos above are offical GEC publicity shots of NZ U13 M-units. (From the Peel-Conner/GEC archive) This is a photo of a preserved M-unit at the Glenbrook Vintage Railway in South Auckland NZ.
