A unit

The A unit accomodated the following:

Shelf A: Wiring for 50 subs line ccts although they were only provided with 30 sets of relays. Misc alarm relays and the two allotter uniselectors. The allotter bank connections are staggered so that a different linefinder/group selector combination is used for each call attempt. The order of hunting is 1, 5, 2,6,3,7,4,8.

Line relays

Shelf B: Posistions for two linefinder control relay sets, and three 100pt two-motion linefinders. The linefinder muiltple is terminated on connection strip, mounted on the rear of shelf C, and is wired in the following way: Levels 1&2 are wired for junctions 1-10 the +,- and M-wires of levels strapped on connexion strips. Level 3/4/5 are for normal subs. Level 6 is wired for normal subs, but it’s meters are wired via a connexion strip. Levels 7&8 are strapped on the connexion strip, contacts L1 and L22 wired to connexion strip for coin-box working or ordinary working. Levels 9&0 are wired only to the connexion strip.

Linefinders and control relay sets

Shelf C: Postitions for five 100pt  two-motion linefinders.

Shelf D: 50 subs meters, and overflow meters, one provided for each group-selector level.

Meters

Shelf E/F: Postitions for 8 group selectors (on later un-enclosed units this was increased to ten groups, the extra two being used for direct access from junctions).

The Group selector mulitple is terminated on a 120cct connexion strip mounted at the rear of shelf E, and is wired: Level 1 to connexion strip only, Level 2 to final selectors for subs 200-299, Level 3 to final selectors for subs 300-399. Levels 4-8 are wired to non-parent junctions, and levels 9&0 are wired to parent junctions.

Shelf G: Positions for five final selectors. These are 2-10 PBX working, and also offer trunk offering.
